YEREVAN, December 2. / ARKA /. Ameriabank was recognized as the best bank in Armenia in 2013 by The Banker magazine for the second time. Ameriabank won the first Bank of the Year award in 2010. The Banker (a Financial Times publication) every year recognizes the best banking performance in different countries and regions.
The Banker's 14th Bank of the Year Awards was presented in London on November 28. According to the award organizers, Ameriabank performs as a universal bank, having become the leading financial institution of the country.
In particular, it was noted that in 2012 Ameriabank recorded a profit growth of 48.9 % to $14.9 million to have retained its status of progressive and innovative bank with the least amount of non-performing assets.
"The Bank was able to expand and develop the scope of its retail banking services through the introduction of new information technologies and improvement of quality of service and innovations", The Banker said.
It said Ameriabank paid special attention to lending to small and medium-sized businesses, development of banking cards and the use of new and innovative approaches.
Ameriabank received a certificate and a prestigious Bracken award, named after Brendan Bracken, the founding editor of The Banker and the chairman of the modern-day Financial Times from 1945 to 1958.
As of September 30 Ameriabank’s assets totaled about 296.6 billion drams, liabilities - 257.6 billion drams capital - 38.9 billion drams and profit - 4.6 billion drams.
