YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. Armenia's National Assembly has approved today a string of amendments to the Law On Trade and Services, which set duties on  mobile trading points (trading from static vehicles) in Yerevan.

The changes were initiated by an MP from the ruling My Step faction Sisak Gabrielyan, who said the Yerevan Municipality is given the right to independently determine the places where mobile street vendors can have their vehicles, what kind of services or products they can offer and at what hours they are allowed to trade.

The changes prohibit mobile trade in central squares, near buildings or monuments of national and cultural heritage, as well as near state institutions. The size of the duty is 50 thousand drams (about $104) per month.

According to Gabrielyan, the amendments are needed because there is no regulation in this area, and often entrepreneurs provide services with a gross violation of sanitary conditions.

He said entrepreneurs asked for permission to trade in one particular place for a period of three or six months, but the changes do not provide for it. -0-
