YEREVAN, May 25. /ARKA/. The Armenian Police Department reported Friday that Sotk Gold Mine has resumed operating after a break caused by mass actions hindering the mine operation.

The press office of GeoProMining that owns Agarak Copper and Molybdenum Combine and GPM Gold, which develops Sotk gold field and runs Ararat Gold Plant reported yesterday that the Sotk mine ceased operating because some people blocked the entrance to the mine and roads to the open pit and the railway.

In its today’s report, the police, reacting to the media information that the police didn’t respond to the

GeoProMining Gold Company’s request to suspend the actions, say: “Officers of the Vardenice division of the Gegharkunik provincial police department has done particular explanatory work with the protesters, thanks to which the roads were unblocked on May 24 at about 17:00 and the normal operation of the mine was resumed.”

An investigation was launched into the incident. -0---
