YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. General Director of the South Caucasus Railway cjsc Victor Rebets summarized the company’s performance in February at a teleconference Tuesday, the company’s press service reported.

In the reporting month, the performance rate was 101.9% versus the targets and 135% if compared to the 2012 level.

A total of 214,200tons of freight was transported in February, which is a 1.8% increase against the targets and 35.4% increase against the same period of the year before, Rebets said.

In the reporting period, 141,200 tons were loaded. This is 1.3% higher than the target and 41.8% higher than the 2012 level.

A total of 34,230 tons were transported in export traffic (target exceeded by 0.2%), and 107,000 tons were transported in local traffic (target exceeded by 1.7%).

In the period, 73,000 tons were unloaded, which is 2.7% higher that the target.

Passenger turnover in the period was 102.7% higher than the target and 117.1% higher than the 2012 level.

Positive trend is recoded in a number of indicators, such as reduction in car detention time, average daily car mileage and locomotive efficiency, reduction in operating car fleet, Rebets said.

Yet, there is much to be done to increase freight traffic and reduce electricity and fuel costs, according to the general director.

Rebets also said that the average monthly wages of railroaders is over 187,600 drams, which is an 18.9% increase against the last year. -0-
