YEREVAN, December 17. /ARKA/. Armenia had 318,800 hectares of land under crop this year, Deputy Agriculture Minister Samvel Galstyan said Tuesday at a news conference.
He said that areas under crop have grown by 35,000 hectares since 2010. In his words, the total area of cropland in the country is 449,200 hectares.
Galstyan said the ministry was planning not only to expand areas under crops gradually, but also intended to increase one hectare’s productivity – for example, grain yield from one hectare was planned to be built up to 30 centners and more.
According to Armenia’s agriculture ministry, total crop areas in the country grew 7% or by 25,300 hectares in the first half of this year. -0---
