YEREVAN, December 17. /ARKA/. Potato crop in Armenia grew to 659,600 tons this year from 647,000 in 2012, Samvel Galstyan, deputy agriculture minister, said today at a news conference.
“Contrary to pessimistic outlooks of some experts, this year we managed to ensure growth to potato crop,” he said.
Galstyan said that Armenia exported 20,000 tons of potatoes this year to Russia, Georgia and Central Asia countries.
He stressed that the joint measures taken this year by the agriculture ministry and farmers shielded potato crops from the Potato tuber moth. --0----
