Agriculture's share in Armenian GDP 23%
YEREVAN, October 22. /ARKA/. The share of agriculture in Armenian GDP is 23%, Armenian Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said at agroforum in Yerevan Sunday.
The averaged data for the last three years show that the share of agriculture in GDP is 17.9%, and 23% if the processing industry is taken into account, the Minister said.
The output of the processing industry exceeded 338.9 bln Armenian Drams in 2011 and was 429.9 bln Drams for January-August 2012.
Karapetyan also reported that growth in agriculture started in 2001 and continued over almost eight years.
Subsequent decline recorded in 2009-2010 was particularly tangible in 2010, the Minister said.
According to the Minister, substantial changes started in agriculture in 2011.
According to Armenia's National Statistical Service, the agricultural output was more than 825.2 bln Drams in current prices in Armenia in 2011, a 14.1% increase as compared with the respective indicator of 2010. -0-
