Argentina expects trade with Armenia to grow this year

YEREVAN, October 19. / ARKA /. Argentine Ambassador to Armenia Diego Ernesto Alvarez Rivera said today his country expects this year’s bilateral trade with Armenia to be higher. Speaking to local journalist on the sidelines of Armenian-Argentinean trade and economic forum in Yerevan, he said the $6 million trade turnover between Armenia and Argentina reported in 2011 is expected to be higher this year.

The event was organized by the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Armenia and the Argentinean embassy to Armenia.

“Our embassy will actively work to expand the Armenian-Argentine trade and economic relations and will soon organize a business forum for Argentine entrepreneurs,” the ambassador said.

He said Armenia sells to his country rubber, clothing, sports furniture, brandy and buys unwrought aluminum, fresh or frozen beef, citrus, raisins and other dried fruits and tobacco. The ambassador said the entrepreneurs on both sides could effectively cooperate in supply of equipment, agriculture and services.

According to Armenia’s National Statistical Service, investment from Argentina into Armenia’s real sector in January-June 2012 increased by 26.4 percent when compared to the same period of 2011 to over $ 7.3 million (loans received by government agencies and banks not counted). -0-
