YEREVAN, December 19. /ARKA/. The current projects show jewelry production is one of the promising fields in Armenia-Belarus cooperation, Belarusian ambassador to Armenia Stepan Sukharenko said
Armenia’s advantage is local diamond cutting specialists and involvement of such from other countries, India and Asian states for instance, the ambassador said.
According to Sukharenko, the important thing is that Armenian companies cut diamonds of all sizes, unlike Belarusian “Crystal” enterprise dealing only with diamonds of up to certain size. Smaller diamonds are transported to Armenia for cutting, the ambassador said adding to avoid this transportation costs Belarusian specialist are now being trained in Armenia.
Some diamond cutting equipment is delivered to Belarus, and both countries are engaged in selling the ready products, Sukharenko said.
The ambassador also noted Armenia is a brand supplier of jewelry whereas Belarus is not very strong in jewelry production.
“Belarusian and Armenian economies are complementary, it means we are not competing in any of the fields”, Sukharenko said.
Apart from this, techniques used in jewelry production are very different in the countries, hence Belarus-made jewelry is demanded in Armenia, and vice versa, the ambassador said. –0--
