YEREVAN, June 19. / ARKA /. As of today Armenia has exported 49 tons of apricots to the Russian Federation and Switzerland, the press service of the ministry of agriculture said. Armenia has also exported 330 tons of sweet cherries to Russia and Georgia, it said.
The ministry of agriculture expects the apricot output this year to slash to about 8000 tons from 86,000 tons in 2013.
About 80-90% of apricot crops were damaged by the cold spell in late March. Apart from apricot orchards, damage was caused also to cherry and almond trees.
Mainly orchards in Armavir and Ararat provinces were affected; damage in Kotayk region was not substantial. -0-
