Armenia, France to enhance economic relations to political dialogue level – president
YEREVAN, May 13. /ARKA/. Armenia and France intend to raise their economic relations up to the high level of the political dialogue they have, Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan said at the opening of Armenian-French business forum in Yerevan, attended by France’s president Francois Hollande.
The economic component of the relationship is of importance to both sides, Sargsyan said.
The president stressed Armenia is willing to do its best to promote French companies’ entering the Armenian market and appreciated the upcoming opening of Carrefour hypermarket in Yerevan.
According to ArmStat, France was the second biggest investor in Armenia’s real economy sector in 2013. French investments totaled 99.1 billion dollars last year, a reduction of 57% compared to 2012.
Armenia’s foreign ministry says the turnover between the countries exceeded 70 million dollars in 2013. About 180 companies with French capital are registered in Armenia.
