YEREVAN, September 30. / ARKA /.Grains and fodder crops output in Armenia this year is expected to be around 535,000 tons, according to a deputy agriculture minister Samvel Galstyan.
Speaking at a news conference he said the figure represents a significant rise form last year’s output when farmers across the country gathered 456,000 metric tons.
The deputy minister specified that farmers gathered 306,500 tons of wheat this year, up from 243,100 tons in 2012, an increase of 26%. He attributed the growth to an expansion of acreage of wheat from 93,500 hectares in 2012 to 99,700 hectares in 2013. He said also the plan for 20124 is to increase the land under wheat to 105,000 hectares. -0-
