Armenia hopes for opening of transportation links through Abkhazia and South Ossetia
YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. Armenia hopes that trade corridors will be opened between Russia and Georgia through Abkhazia and South Ossetia soon, Vahan Martirosyan, Armenian transport, communication and information technology minister, told journalists on Wednesday.
Earlier, Kommersant, a Russian media resource, reported that representatives of Moscow and Tbilisi had decided to embark on implementation of the agreement on trade corridors signed in 2011.
«The process, first of all, depends on development of Russian-Georgian relations,» Martirosyan said. «Particular results will be seen only when trade corridors will really be opened, and I hope they will be soon. And now Georgia, Russia and Swiss SGS Company are working.»
The transport corridor through Abkhazia will give Armenia an alternative to Upper Lars, the only ground way connecting Armenia and Russia, and will have positive impacts on the price policy. --0---
