Armenia reports lowest retail trade growth in CIS in ten months

YEREVAN, December 6. / ARKA /. Armenia’s retail trade in January-October this year increased by 0.5 percent when compared with the same period in 2012, while the average growth across the  CIS countries was 5.3 %, the CIS Statistical Committee said today. Armenia’s indicator was the lowest among former Soviet republics.

 The highest growth was reported by Turkmenistan (19.9 %), which was followed by Belarus (18.5%), Tajikistan (17.9%), Uzbekistan (14.7%), Kazakhstan (12.7 %.)

Azerbaijan reported a 9.7 % growth in retail trade, Ukraine - 9.5%, Kyrgyzstan - 7.8%, Russia - 3.8 %, and n Moldova - 1 2 %.

According to Armenia’s National Statistical Service, the volume of retail trade in January- October 2013 amounted to more than 1.077 trillion drams, a 2.6 percent rise from the year before. ($ 1 - 406.11 drams). -0-
