YEREVAN, December 23. /ARKA/. Armenia-Russia shares in equities of ArmRosgasprom company should get, over the course of time, to 50/50, and prices for energy resources should be reduced, chairman of Armenia’s Union of Local Manufacturers Vazgen Safaryan said.
Recently ArmRosgasprom became 100% Russian, but 50/50 shared enterprises provide best efficiency, Safaryan told a press conference Friday.
According to Safaryan, there is room for reducing gas and energy prices that influence pricing in Armenia. The required steps should be taken in this direction, he said.
The new heat power plant using Iranian gas will give an opportunity to reduce energy prices. On the other hand, reduction in prices for Russian oil products will enable importers increasing supplies from Russia and will, in turn, have impact on the price, Safaryan said.
The head of the Union said these measures will have a positive impact on construction sector as main part of construction equipment uses diesel fuel, and will also lead to reduction in prime cost for agricultural equipment.
“I believe accession to the Customs Union will become another stimulus for our economy and ourselves”, Safaryan said.
Following their negotiations on September 3 Armenia’s and Russia’s presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin made a statement about Armenia’s intention to join Russia-led Customs Union. The roadmap for the accession is expected to be signed in Moscow on December 24. –0--
