Armenia's 12-month consumer price index rises by 8.4%
YEREVAN, April 4. /ARKA/. Armenia's consumer price index (CPI) was up 8.4% in April 2022 compared to April 2021, and up 2.3% compared to March 2022, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.
According to the NSC, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were up 14.3% in April 2022 compared to April 2021, and up 4% compared to March 2022.
Alcohol and tobacco products rose in price by 1.1% from April of last year. Prices of clothing and footwear increased by 8.1% and utilities - by 5.5%.
Prices of household goods and appliances rose by 5.3%, while health care prices rose by 0.7%. Transportation costs rose by 6.9%, communications services upped by 0.2%, recreation and culture services by 12.4%, education fees by 1.5% and visits to restaurant by 6.1%.
The prices of non-food products rose by 6.1% compared to last April and services rose 3.8%.
Armenia's government's economic growth projection for 2022 is 7%, while inflation is set at 4% (±1.5%). The Central Bank in March downgraded its growth forecast to 1.6% from its earlier forecast of 5.3%. -0-
