Armenia’s agricultural output rose by 7.1% to 467 bln drams in Jan-August
YEREVAN, October 7. /ARKA/. Armenia’s agricultural output in current prices amounted to about 467 billion drams in January-August this year, a 7.1% increase compared to the same period of the year before, ArmStat reported.
Total output in agriculture and fishery rose by 7.7% in the reporting period to over 478.6 bln drams, according to the report.
Livestock production amounted to about 185.4 billion drams in January-August, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period of the year before. Crop cultivation rose by 11.3% to about 281.6 billion drams and fishery amounted to 11.5 billion drams (32.7% increase), according to the report.
The statistics showed, the sales of cattle and sheep and goat meet and poultry (live weight) rose by 1.2% in August from a year earlier to 7,700 tons. The highest meat sales rates were reported in Gegharkunik and Shirak regions of Armenia— 1,200 tons each.
Milk production totalled 59,000 tons, an increase of 5.4% against August 2012. Gegharkunik region reported the highest milk production rate at 10,600 tons.
Egg production dropped by 3.6% to 45.7 million in August. The highest number of eggs was produced in Kotayk region – 9.5 million.
Fishery and pisciculture in Armenia rose by 23.2% in August to 756 tons in the reported period. Sales constituted 100%. ($1=405.29drams). –0--
