Armenia’s citizens must feel economic growth impact on their life conditions-PM
YEREVAN, October 15. /ARKA/. Armenia’s citizens should see and feel the impact of economic growth in the country on their life conditions, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at the annual conference of Armenian economic union, held in Yerevan State University.
“Indicators of economic growth and economic activity index, are important, of course. But the most important thing is our citizens who should feel the impact of this growth on their life conditions,” the government quotes Sargsyan.
“From this angle, we still have much to do, as we have the same challenges: we must eradicate poverty in Armenia, the share of which is 30%, and this is a great concern for us,” Sargsyan said.
He also added that the balances of payments and trade are still negative, in spite of the fact that export has been exceeding import growth over the past three years.
PM added that it is necessary to take into account the global economic conditions.
“Over these 20 years, Armenia has always conducted an open economic policy, and it means, that it’s necessary to heed the impact of the global processes.”
Sargsyan underlined that a government not only forms a competitive investment and business atmosphere, but also supports each particular enterprise that is unprecedented approach in the history of contemporary independent Armenia.
PM added the government developed and presented new concept which became a discussable topic of different political parties.
As a result the government defined 11 priority spheres our country has potential in.
“Economic activity in Armenia reports 8.3%, and inflation- 2.2% over 8 months this year. It means that the new approach has positive outcomes.”
On 15 December Armenia’s government approved the strategy of export oriented industrial policy. The document was prepared under the order of the Word Bank and Economy Ministry. -0-
