Armenia’s economic activity is up 6.2 percent in seven months
YEREVAN, August 21. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic activity index grew by 6.2% in January-July of 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year, the National Statistical Service said.
It said the growth was secured by three sectors: industry, trade and services. Thus, the industrial output grew by 12.7% to 899.5 billion drams, services amounted to 774.5 billion drams (an increase of 11.8%), and domestic trade turnover saw a 12.2% growth to 1.346.7 trillion drams.
At the same time, construction sector declined further by 8.7% to approximately 143.8 billion drams and the agricultural output fell by 2.1% to 334.8 billion drams. In January-July, inflation was 0.5%.
The country’s foreign trade in January-July 2017 amounted to about $ 3.346.8 billion, an increase of 26% over the same period in 2016. Armenian government's economic growth projection for this year is 3.2%. ($ 1 - 478.57 drams). -0-
