Food prices slipped by 2.2% in Armenia in February this year compared to the month before, mainly due to reduction in prices for fruits (8.2% reduction) and for vegetables and potatoes (7.7% reduction), ArmStat reported.
YEREVAN, March 4. /ARKA/. Food prices slipped by 2.2% in Armenia in February this year compared to the month before, mainly due to reduction in prices for fruits (8.2% reduction) and for vegetables and potatoes (7.7% reduction), ArmStat reported.
Compared to February 2013, a 3% rise was recorded in food prices in February this year, according to the report.
Fruit prices alone dropped by 6% compared to February 2013, whereas prices for vegetables and potatoes rose by 7.6%.
A 0.7% year-on-year reduction was recorded in prices for meat products in the reporting month (1.6% reduction compared to January).
Average egg prices hiked by 15.6% against February 2013 and reduced by 0.7% compared to the month before.
A 9.8% year-on-year increase was recorded in milk product prices, but increase was 1% only compared to January 2014.
ArmStat reports prices for nonfoods dropped by 0.3% in Armenia in February this year. Consumer prices slipped by 1.2% in the reporting month against January and rose by 4.6% compared to February the year before.
Armenia posted 5.8% inflation in 2013. Inflation level is expected at 4% (±1.5%) under the 2014 budget. –0--
