Armenia’s grape procurements this year grow by 23.4 percent to 155,400 tons: minister
YEREVAN, October 22. / ARKA /. Grape procurements this year increased by 23.4 percent from 2011 to 155,400 tons, agriculture minister Sergo Karapetyan said Sunday at the opening of an agricultural forum on the sidelines of ArmFood 2012 exhibition
According to him, the grapes were procured by 40 companies which paid at least 140 drams per one kilogram. He said in 2011 the procurement price was 131.9 drams.
According to the ministry of agriculture, the grape output this year may reach 235-240 thousand tons against 229. 4 thousand tons in 2011. Grape processing companies had earlier committed to buy up to 166 thousand tons of grapes, up from 128.9 thousand tons last year, he said. ($ 1-406,13 drams). -0-
