YEREVAN, October 28. / ARKA /. Armenia’s insurance companies paid a total of 7.6 billion drams in 39,258 car insurance compensation payments in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 19.2% compared to the first nine months of 2012, a statement posted on the official website of Armenia’s Car Insurers’ Bureau says.
It says at the end of September there were 386,700 vehicles insured in Armenia (5.4% increase from the year before). The total number of compensation claims increased by 23.1 percent to 39,194; only 435 claims were turned down, according to the statement. The payment of another 124.6 million drams worth compensations is still underway, it said.
Insurance bonuses in the first nine months amounted to a total of about 12.2 billion drams, 0.1 percent down from the year earlier.
In Armenia there are currently seven insurance companies. The mandatory insurance against physical damage caused to other cars and individuals became mandatory in Armenia on January 1, 2011. ($1-405.84 drams). -0-
