YEREVAN, December 20. /ARKA/. Livestock production rose by 10,000 to 671,000 head in Armenia in 2013, Armenia’s first deputy minister of agriculture Grisha Baghiyan reported.
The ministry will continue its efforts to increase the livestock production, Baghiyan told a press conference Friday.
Sheep and goat production rose by about 40,000 head in 2013 compared to the year before; pig production exceeded the last year level a bit and reached 145,000 head.
Cattle and poultry sales (live weight) rose by about 10-15,000 tons to approximately 145,000 tons in the reporting year.
Baghiyan said milk production grew by about 30,000 tons to 658,000 tons in 2013 against 2012. A total of 690 million eggs were produced in 2013, 32 million more than in the year before.
Share of livestock production in agriculture was approximately 40% and gross livestock production totaled about 360 billion drams. –0--
