YEREVAN, January 17. /ARKA/. Armenia’s minister of economy Vahram Avanesyan said he agrees with some critical comments on the government made by ex-president Robert Kocharyan.
The second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and the current premier Tigran Sargsyan have recently made a number of statements strongly criticizing economic policies of each other.
The minister said he agrees with criticism on mortgage loans in particular. He said it is quite clear interest rates prevent the mortgage market from development.
Yet, describing the tasks and assessing them in economic terms are two different things, Avanesyan said. For instance, it is impossible to keep the share of construction in Armenia’s or any other country’s GDP at 25% for long time, he said.
The minister noted the current economic situation in the country is the result of not only ongoing reforms, but also the ones that were started back in the first president’s time. –0--
