YEREVAN, February 21. /ARKA/. Armenia’s National Competitiveness Fund and American GK Brand company signed an agreement to create an Armenian national brand, press office of Armenia’s government reported.
The agreement was signed by the head of the Fund Arman Khachatryan and director of GK Brand Vazgen Kalajyan.
Apart from this, a memorandum about measures to create the brand was signed by Armenia’s minister of economy Vahram Avanesyan and director of USAID Yerevan office Karen Hilliard in the presence of premier Tigran Sargsyan.
Bearing in mind importance of branding for improving tourism and investment appeal of the country, for developing economy and increasing Armenia’s international rating, GK Brand will propose a competitive strategy of branding, according to the report.
The document says a well-chosen brand, well-arranged awareness campaign and various joint projects will help get the message about Armenia’s uniqueness and attractiveness to potential tourists and investors.
US ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, in his turn, said the signing of the document is important both for Armenia and Armenia-US relations.
Armenia’s minister of economy Vahram Avanesyan said at a cabinet meeting Thursday the government will spend 62 million drams on development of a national brand.
The ministry will also sign a grant agreement with the National Competitiveness Fund to seek additional funds of $255,000 required for the project. ($1=412.09drams). –0--
