YEREVAN, October 23. / ARKA /. In the first eight months of this year Armenia’s trade with Switzerland skyrocketed by 77 percent year-on-year to $110 million, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia told ARKA
According to its press release, the trade between the two countries in 2011 amounted to approximately $112.5 million, which was up from approximately $92.1 million in 2010. In particular, Armenian exports to Switzerland in 2011 jumped by 59% from the year earlier to $33.7 million against approximately $21.2 million in 2010.
Imports in 2011 increased by 11% to approximately $78.8 million against $71 million in the previous year.
The Commerce and Industry Chamber said also Switzerland is interested in Armenia’s mining industry, in which Swiss companies have invested already more than $25 million.
Armenia exports to Switzerland copper ore and concentrate, precious metals, diamonds, fruits and vegetables, clothing, nuts; imports from Switzerland include refractory cement, plastics and food products, including cheese, cottage cheese, chocolate and cocoa. -0-
