YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. Armenia's unemployment level was 16.2% in the second quarter of this year, a reduction of 1.2 percentage points compared to the same period of the year before, ArmStat reported.
Compared to the first quarter, unemployment rate decreased 0.7% in Q2, according to the report.
23.3% unemployment was recorded in towns in the reporting period (as compared to 26% in Q2 2012). Unemployment rate was 6.1% in villages in the second quarter of this year (5.5% in Q2 2012).
There were 67,700 people seeking jobs as of the end of August, including 58,400 people with no employment. Some 19,900 people are looking for jobs in the capital.
Number of the unemployed dropped from 246,200 in Q2 2012 to 228,100 in Q2 2013; number of the employed has grown from 1,166,500 to 1,179,800.
Number of economically active population was 407,900 people in the reporting period, a reduction of 0.3% compared to Q2 2012.
Armenia’s labor force reduced by 0.6% in the second quarter to 2,232,800 people as of the end of June.–0--
