YEREVAN, March 21. / ARKA /. Armenia should postpone its entry into the Russia-led Customs Union at least by one or two months, Gagik Makaryan, the chairman of the National Union of Employers said March 20.
Speaking at a news conference he said Armenia should not allow Russia to run it, but should be guided by well-thought decisions.
According to him, the government should engage in active dialogue with the private sector and businesses and the signing of Customs Union documents should be postponed ‘because of changes in Armenia’s trade relations."
He blamed the government for not taking any serious steps in terms of accession to the trade bloc except for drawing up the "road map."
According to him, a delay of one or two months will give the government in Yerevan a chance to better examine the situation and act in accordance with the circumstances .
"Standard approaches are no longer effective for economic development. Armenia should be very pro-active, otherwise it will always be subjected to manipulation,” he said.
He also urged the authorities to create motivations for local oligarchs to invest in domestic economy. -0-
