Armenia will seek to diversify trade turnover with Poland, Chief of Armenian Development Agency Robert Harutyunyan said Monday.
YEREVAN, April 22. /ARKA/.Armenia will seek to diversify trade turnover with Poland, Chief of Armenian Development Agency Robert Harutyunyan said Monday.
“Of course, the trade structure is not so diverse, and we will work to diversify it,” he said at the opening of the Armenian-Polish business forum “Armenia and Poland: investment climate of Armenia.”
The forum is a part of the third Armenian-Polish intergovernmental commission in Yerevan.
He noted Poland mainly exports paper production and sugar to Armenia, and Armenia –agricultural production.
Harutyunyan said in 2011, the trade turnover between the two states entered the pre-crisis level of nearly $36 million, and in 2012 it rose to $42 million.
“As a whole, the balance is negative for us, and import accounts for most of the turnover,” he noted.
He also added most of the Polish companies of the forum focus on construction.
Harutyunyan also clarified the interest of the Polish companies is mainly raised by infrastructure programs currently implemented in Armenia.
Agency attempts to introduce the forum participants with the whole investment potential of Armenia.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the trade turnover between Armenia and Poland climbed by 16.3% to $42.4 million in 2012 from 2011.
Export to Poland dropped by 35.3% to $599,300 in 2012 from 2011. -0-
