Armenia won’t be demanding apparent “no common border” waivers from Customs Union

YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. Armenia will not ask for explicit waivers in the Customs Union (CU) because of not having common borders with other CU-member countries, chairman of standing parliament commission for science, education, culture, youth and sports Artak Davtyan said.

Armenia is not demanding obvious exceptions as the idea is to strengthen the union, Davtyan said at Moscow-Yerevan video bridge entitled “Eurasian Choice – Armenia – 2013”.

The chairman told Novosti-Armenia he meant the exceptions that are only in Armenia’s, but not in CU’s interests in general. In particular, customs duty rate issues may be discussed, Davtyan said.

The roadmap for Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union was approved at a meeting of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on December 24. –0-
