Armenian agriculture minister says agro sector will post 8-9% growth in year’s out
YEREVAN, July 26. /ARKA/. Growth in agricultural sector may reach 8-9% in Armenia this year, Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan told the journalists on Thursday.
He reminded that according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, gross production in agriculture was 203.6 billion drams within the first 6 month of 2012, up by 8.1% from the same period a year earlier
“These developments will be active till the year’s out, and we have all chances to fetch up 8-9% agricultural growth,” Karapetyan said.
The Minister highlighted that due to agriculture aid programs implemented by the government in 2011 it was possible to form favorable conditions for its development.
“Those aid programs which were implemented in agricultural sector, fostered creating favorable conditions for household subjects, as well as enhanced accessibility of the important resources used in the sphere,” he added.
Karapetyan informed the highest growth was reported in crop cultivation- 28%, fish-farming- 25.2. Two-percent growth was posted in cattle breeding.
Earlier Karapetyan said heeding Armenian government’s task to post 7% economic growth, agricultural upturn must report a two-digit figure.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, economic activity in Armenia jumped 7.8% in the first half of 2012 from the same period a year earlier.
Industry (13%), export (13.5%) and agriculture (8.1%) posted the highest growth.—0--
