YEREVAN, December 25. / ARKA /. Armenian minister of agriculture, Sergo Karapetyan, said today that local canneries and other processing companies have paid for 98.5% of procurements from farmers.
According to him, the procurement process this year was ‘very smooth’.
“I am pleased to report that the processing companies have paid for 98.5 % of the produces they had bought from farmers," he said. He added that the remaining debt will be paid in the next few days.
He said this year the volume of procurements amounted to 31.2 billion drams, up from 26.5 billion drams in 2012.
According to the ministry of agriculture, this year 224,000 tons of fruits and vegetables were procured, including 28,000 tons of vegetables, 29,000 of fruits and 167,200 tons of grapes. In 2012, the volume of procurements was 215,000 tons. ($ 1 - 405.28 drams). -0 -
