Armenia's GDP in the third quarter of this year amounted to 1 trillion 823.7 billion drams, the government said in a Facebook post, saying also that the year-on-year growth was 7.9% It said in the first and second quarters of this year, GDP growth was 7.5% and 6.9%, respectively.
According to the Central Bank, the Armenian economy will grow this year by 7.1%. Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan predicted 7 percent GDP growth.
In its October report called “Global Economic Prospects: Heightened Tensions, Subdued Investment”, the World Bank forecasted 5.5% growth for Armenia’s GDP in 2019 and 5.1% in 2020.
The IMF also revised upwards its macroeconomic forecast for Armenia. In its October report called 'Global Manufacturing Downturn, Rising Trade Barriers” (World Economic Outlook), it predicted 6% growth for 2019 and 4.8% in 2020.
The government's projection of GDP growth for this year is 4.9%. The inflation forecast is 2.7%. -0-
