YEREVAN, February 17. / ARKA /. Development of light and specialized aircraft is one of the main priorities of the ministry of emergency situations, deputy chief of the Armenian rescue service, General Nikolay Grigoryan, said to a news conference today.
He said the immediate objective is to resume the operation of airports in Stepanavan and Kapan. He said light and specialized aircraft will conduct exploratory work , participate in fighting wild fires and so on.
Among other priorities of the ministry he mentioned establishment of provincial crisis management centers, the improvement of 911 services in Yerevan and its extension to the regions.
He said there is also work underway to establish voluntary fire units throughout the country as there are some remote communities which take fire brigade 30-40 minutes to reach.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations was founded in 2008. It has a unique in the region Crisis Management Centre. -0-
