YEREVAN, September 9. / ARKA /. Hrachya Tsnepsyan, a senior official of the Armenian ministry of agriculture, said today farmers across the country are expected to collect at least 310,000 metric tons of wheat this year, 7.4 percent up from 2012 when they collected about 240,000 metric tons.
He said the forecast is that the country's total grain output will be around 530,000 metric tons, by 25 percent more than in 2012.
He also said the projection for potato output is 665,000 metric tons, that for vegetables is 860,000 tons and the forecast for fruits and berries is 340,000 metric tons. He said wheat production accounts for only 35-36% of Armenia’s self-sufficiency. -0-
