Armenian food prices rose by 3.6 percent in 2017 December

YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. In December 2017 prices for foods and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 3.6% when compared to November, Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS) said, adding that the rise was driven by increased  prices for fruits and vegetables by 4.3% and 25.1%, respectively.

Vegetable prices in December 2017 grew by 8.2% when compared with December 2016, and by 25% from the previous month. Fruits went up by 0.9% and 4.3%, respectively.

Dairy products, cheese and eggs in December 2017 rose by 7% year-on-year, and  by 2.6%, when compared to November. The rise was largely prompted by a 7.3% rise in egg prices. The meat price rose by 11% from the year earlier and by 1.3% from the previous month. Prices for fish and fish products in December 2017 increased by 24.8% from December 2016, and decreased by 0.3% from 2017 November.

In December 2017 prices for non-alcoholic beverages and cigarettes remained unchanged. The sugar in December, 2017 increased by 6% year-on-year, and fell by 0.5% from 2017 November. According to the National Statistical Service, inflation in Armenia in 2017 was 1%. -0-
