YEREVAN, December 26. /ARKA/. Armenian government ought to inform the country's population about real things in natural gas area, Vardan Bostanjyan, an economist, said at a news conference on Thursday.
«I find it reasonable to suppress state secrets from people, but how can gas price be kept secret?» he said.
He pointed out that the situation here is not transparent and more than that – it is incomprehensible, and responsible officials can't answer something intelligible to the questions the society put to them.
Bostanjyan also spoke about Armenia's debt to Russia for the imported Russian natural gas, for which Armenia had to cede 20% of ArmRosgazprom's equities belonging to the Armenian government to Russia's Gazprom that becomes the sole owner of the company after that. He said that this debt is not only the government', but also all citizens' business.
Under the agreement signed between Armenia and Russia, Gazprom is committed to convey as much natural gas to Armenia as needed to cater for gas consumers’ demand in the country against timely and accurate payment for gas consumption by economic entities.
Armenia’s government, on its side, is committed not to convey Russian natural gas abroad and to ensure timely payment. --0---
