Armenia’s 12-month inflation in 2012 May dropped to 0.5%, according to acting finance minister Vatche Gabrielian.
YEREVAN, June 7. /ARKA/. Armenia’s 12-month inflation in 2012 May dropped to 0.5%, according to acting finance minister Vatche Gabrielian.
"In terms of inflation, we have a low and steady environment," he said during a government meeting on Thursday.
He cited also official data saying that economic activity index in the first four months of this year amounted to about 7.2%.
"The most important indicator is the industrial output growth that saw a 15.3% rise. We also registered growth in electricity production," he said.
Gablielyan also reported that exports in January - April compared to the same period last year surged by 17.8% and imports by 8.7%.
According to the National Statistical Service (NSS) of Armenia, the industrial output in April 2012 amounted to more than 82.9 billion drams, having increased by 12.3% year-on-year and decreased by 1.9% compared with the previous month.
Armenian exports in January-April 2012 amounted, according to the NSS, to $439.5 million, an increase of 17.8% over the same period in 2011, and imports to $1.3 billion, an increase of 8.7% from a year earlier. ($1 - 413.26 drams). -0-
