Armenian jewelry industry’s output shrinks 38% to AMD 3.1 billion in Jan-March 2014

YEREVAN, May 8. /ARKA/. Armenian jewelry industry’s output amounted to AMD 3.099 billion in Jan-March 2014 – 38% year-on-year decline, the National Statistical Service reports. 

Some 138.2 kilograms of jewelry were produced in the country over the 1st Q 2014 against 219.3 kilograms released in the same quarter a year before – 37% year-on-year decline. 

Armenia's diamond output was 16,406 carats – 36% year-on-year decline. 

Exports of precious and semiprecious stones, precious metals and jewelry made of them totaled $58 million in Jan-March (25.3% year-on-year growth), and imports amounted to $89.6 million – 46.6% growth. ($1- AMD 413.19). -0---
