Armenian Labor and Social Affairs Ministry signs cooperation memorandum with ICHD to prevent illegal migration
YEREVAN, September 5. /АРКА/. Armenian Labor and Social Affairs Minister Artem Asatryan, International Center for Human Development Executive Director Tevan Poghosyan and Head of Armenian Mission of International Migration Organization Ilona Ter-Minasyan signed a cooperation memorandum on Wednesday for joint study and prevention of illegal migration.
The memorandum was signed as part of the government’s migration regulation program for 2012-2016.
Tevan Poghosyan said that the aim of the program is to develop ways allowing Armenian citizens to migrate legally, “without burning bridges with their homeland”.
“Maybe these people will be able to realize their potential abroad and will return home,” he said adding that the elaboration of a labor migration program is under way now. This program, he said, may be financed by European Union. The program development is planned to be completed in 18 months.
In late 2011, Armenian government adopted a national policy for preventing irregular migration. -0-
