Armenian parliament to vote on gas deal with Gazprom on Monday

YEREVAN, December 20. / ARKA /. The National Assembly of Armenia will convene on Monday again to vote on whether to ratify or not an Armenian-Russian agreement whereby the government in Yerevan has ceded its 20 percent stake in the national gas distribution company ArmRosgazporm (ARG) to Russia’s Gazprom to clear half of $300 million debt accumulated as a result of subsidizing the increased price of Russian natural gas for Armenian domestic consumers.

The package of documents put to vote includes also some other Armenian-Russian agreements signed during Russian president Putin’s viist to Armenia on December 2.

Under one agreement, Russia will be supplying 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Armenia in 2014-2018. The price will be determined by a formula which is used to determine the price for domestic consumers in Russia In 2012 Gazprom supplied 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas to Armenia. -0-
