YEREVAN, October 9. /ARKA/. A number of European countries and Commonwealth of Independent States will research the experience of the Financial Ombudsman’s Office of Armenia, financial ombudsman Piruz Sargsyan said at the annual conference “Institute of Financial Ombudsman targeted at enhancing trust of the citizens and increase of financial mediation” on Tuesday.
“The World Bank was researching the financial literacy and protection of customers’ financial interests in Armenia in late 2011 and this year, and the assessments were very optimistic. They underscored that our experience can be useful not only for the CIS, but also for other regions,” she said.
According to her, Kyiv is currently exploring the experience of the Office in Armenia, and in October the Armenian delegation will head for Bosnia and Herzegovina to present the achievements of the institution there.
She also noted that Armenia became a member of International Network of Ombudsmen in 2009, and this year the Armenian delegation participated in the international conference of ombudsmen and presented its report there.
“Institute of Financial Ombudsman targeted at enhancing trust of the citizens and increase of financial mediation” conference gathered 140 specialists and representatives from Great Britain, France, New Zealand, Ireland, the World Bank, Association of regional banks of Russia, Motor Insurers Bureau of Poland and Russia, Armenian banks and insurance companies.
Financial Ombudsman’s Office of Armenia, established on January 24, 2009, is the first institution of such nature in the CIS. Its goal is to protect the interests and rights of the clients of banking system of Armenia, review their complaints, and enhance their trust towards financial system of the republic. -0-
