Donor-organizations got introduced to the strategy of industrial policy of the Armenian government

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan met on Wednesday with representatives of international donor-organizations operating in Armenia and introduced them to the strategy of industrial policy approved by the Armenian government targeted at export.

Press-service of the Ministry informed ARKA News Agency that in the meeting UN Coordinator in Armenia Dafina Gercheva, Head of USAID Office in Yerevan, Dr. Cheema Jatinder, Head of Armenian Office of the World Bank Jean-Michel Hapi, Permanent representative of IMF in Armenia Guillermo Tolosa, Head of EU delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Traian Hristea, Head of operations of EU delegation to Armenia, Jean-Christophe Guerande were present.

The Minister informed the participants that for the three spheres of 11: precise engineering, pharmaceutics and brandy production have been already developed sectoral strategies, and works are conducted to develop strategies in the remaining eight sectors.

Participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of organizing discussions in such a format, which allows to start implementation of strategies more efficiently and comprehensively.

Representatives of donor-organizations agreed to submit their proposals to support implementation of the strategy which will be discussed in the next meeting in the ministry.

Government of Armenia on December 15 approved the Strategy of export-oriented industrial policy. Three conventional horizontals or phases are defined in the strategy which will provide development of 11 sectoral directions.

Separate concepts will be developed for all sectoral directions included in the document. -0-
