Economist says Armenia able to secure 7 percent GDP growth

YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. Armenia has the potential, as well as material and human resources to secure 7% GDP growth by the end of 2018, Tatul Manaseryan, the head of Alternative think tank, told journalists on Friday. To substantiate he cited the economic activity indices for the first nine months of 2017 and the ongoing upward trend.

At the same time, Manaseryan noted that in order to get out of difficult social and economic situation, the country should secure even higher growth.

"The Armenian economy needs a powerful growth impetus, which will allow to register double-digit economic growth every year. Only in this case it will be possible to talk about overcoming the current social and economic difficulties," Manaseryan said.

The 2018 draft budget, approved by the government in late September, calls for 4.5% growth, up from 3.2% projected for the outgoing year. According to official data, in the first half of the year the economic growth was 6%. -0-
