Electricity generation in Armenia drops by 3.25 percent

Electricity generation in Armenia in January-June 2014 amounted to 3.74 billion kWh, down from 3.86 billion kWh (3.25 percent decline) in the first six months of 2013, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharian told a news conference today.
YEREVAN, August 8th. / ARKA /. Electricity generation in Armenia in January-June 2014 amounted to 3.74 billion kWh, down from 3.86 billion kWh (3.25 percent decline) in the first six months of 2013, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharian told a news conference today.
The minister said only thermal power plants reported a 0.87% increase from the year before, while electricity produced by the nuclear power plant decreased by 3.25%. He added that due to the lack of water hydro power generation decreased by 7.74%.
The minister noted that electricity consumption in the first six months of 2014 decreased by one percent year-on-year. -0-
