EU freezes assets of Yanukovych's former hierarchy: The Guardian

YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. The European Union has announced an assets freeze covering the ousted Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych, and 17 other people held responsible for embezzling state funds.

The 28-nation bloc early on Thursday revealed the names of those targeted by its sanctions. The list appears to include Yanukovych’s closest aides, including a former interior minister, justice minister, the prosecutor general, the head of the security services and Yanukovych’s son.

The sanctions also target the former Ukrainian prime minister Mykola Azarov and his son.
The EU had said on Wednesday it was freezing assets of Ukrainian officials held in the EU but did not name them pending the publication in its official legal journal on Thursday. –0--
