European Union to offer lifting import tariffs on 96% of US goods

YEREVAN, February 7. /ARKA/. The EU Trade Commissionaire Karel De Gutch will offer next Monday February 10 lifting import tariffs on 96% of US goods as part of free-trade negotiations, Reuters said referring to sources.

The European Commission officials hope for respective measures from the United State to reduce tariff barriers to trade, says vestifinance.ru .

Tariffs will be reduced gradually – over 3 and 7 years, for a small part of the goods (3%), to allow some EU economic fields adapting to new trade terms.

The EU will maintain import tariffs for a number of agricultural products, including beef, pork and chicken, but will offer the US higher quotes for exporting them to the European Union. –0--
