Expert: Armenia’s industrial output believed to total over AMD 1.1 Trillion this year
YEREVAN. October 31. /ARKA/. Armenia’s industrial output is believed to total more than AMD 1.1 trillion this year, Vazgen Safaryan, chairman of the Armenian Union of Domestic Commodity Production, said at Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s meeting with representatives of the union.
“Industrial products worth about AMD 700 billion have been released in Armenia for the first eight months of this year, and we are convinced that this indicator will exceed AMD 1.1 trillion by the end of this year,” he said.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the industrial output grew 11.6% in Jan-Sept 2012, compared with the same period a year earlier, to AMD 796.4 billion.
Safaryan said that the growth has been ensured by the government’s effective industrial policy and Armenian manufacturers’ activity.
In 2011, the country’s industrial output amounted to AMD 990 billion.
Earlier, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said that in accordance with the government’s export-oriented industry development strategy, industrial exports are planned to be tripled within one decade. ($1 – AMD 405.57). -0-
