Food prices in Armenia rise by 0.4 percent in March

In March 2013 food prices in Armenia increased by 0.4 percent from February, mainly due to an increase in prices of soft drinks, bread, fish, dairy products, fruits, eggs and other products by 0. 5% -6%, the National Statistical Service (ArmStat) said today.
YEREVAN, March 29. / ARKA /. In March 2013 food prices in Armenia increased by 0.4 percent from February, mainly due to an increase in prices of soft drinks, bread, fish, dairy products, fruits, eggs and other products by 0. 5% -6%, the National Statistical Service (ArmStat) said today.
According to official numbers, the price of bread and other bakery products increased by 0.6 percent month-on-month due to higher prices of flour by 0.7% and 1.6%. In eight cities of the country the price of bread in March increased by 0.2-1%. In Yerevan, it rose by 0.9%. The price of fish products in March, when compared to the previous month, saw a 0.7 percent rise.
The price of eggs rose by 6%, and that of dairy products by 0.7%. The price of eggs in eight towns rose from 2.2% to 9,7%. In Yerevan it rose by 7.2%.
The prices of vegetable and animal oils in March 2013 rose by 1.1%, due to higher prices of margarine by 0.8%, butter -by 0.9%, sunflower oil - by 1 3%, corn oil - by 1.5%, and olive oil - by 2.7%.
The prices of fruits grew by 4%, due to higher prices of apples by 0.5%, lemons - by 1%, oranges - by 2.7%, pears - by 5% , grapes by - 5.5%, tangerines - by 20.5%.
At the same time prices of raisin dropped by 6.9%, that of dried fruits - by 0.9%, bananas by -0.1%. In Yerevan , fruit prices rose by 5.6%. During this period, the prices of vegetables and potatoes fell by 2.7% if compared with February. The prices of coffee, tea and cocoa also fell by 0.9%, while prices of meat products remained unchanged. -0-
