YEREVAN, March 3. / ARKA /. In February 2014 food prices in Armenia dropped by 2.2 percent when compared to the previous month, the National Statistical Service (NSS) reported attributing the drop to an 8 percent fall in fruit prices and a 7.7 percent drop in vegetables and potato prices.
But when compared to prices in 2013 February the 2014 February food prices were higher by 3%. Prices of fruits in February 2014 compared to February last year fell by 6 %, while prices of vegetables and potatoes increased by 7.6 %.
According to NSS, prices of meat products declined by 1.6 percent from 2014 January. Average prices of eggs in February 2014 compared to February 2013 increased by 15.6 %, but were 0.7 percent lower than in 2014 January.
Dairy products prices in February 2014 rose by 9.8 percent compared to February 2013. Compared with the previous month they rose by 1%.
According to NSS, prices of non-food goods in February 2014 decreased by 0.3 percent compared with January of the current year Consumer prices in February 2014 decreased by 1.2 percent when compared to the previous month and grew by 4.6 percent from February 2013. Inflation in 2013 was 5.8%. -0-
